Firenze

we took our first trip as an entire group to firenze, or florence -i like the way it sounds better in english- it was a great trip minus the part about getting up at 430 for a bus at 545 that did not come. so we caught the 730 to catch an 830 bus instead. talk about annoying.

the bus ride was only like an hour long and it was through beautiful country side. once we got there we met up with limher at a horse statue and planned out the day from there.

we first went to the duomo and climbed all the way up the campanile, bell tower, which was 414 steps. it was quite exhilarating, woke me up for the second time that morning, the first was the run to the bus which never came. the view form the top was so beautiful. you could see forever. bellissimo!

after we tested our lungs and legs we headed over to san lorenzo to do some shopping at the mercato. there were so many different venders there. so much to choose from, but i knew what i wanted going in. a bag. so i found one i liked and bartered successful for the first time in my life.

then we ate lunch at i due fratelli, florence's best panini shop. it was really good. and then we headed over to vivoli to get some gelato. i like kopa kabana better, but it was still good, especially since it was hot out. (sorry no photos, i was to busy enjoying food to take pictures)

after lunch katherine, liz and i skipped over to gli uffizi and looked at a lot of artwork by lots of famous people. my favorite thing that i saw was the birth of venus by botticelli. it was so magnifico and huge. i could have looked at it forever, okay not really but in america we use a lot of superlatives and exaggerations so you know what i mean.

after gli uffizi it was a short walk to ponte vecchio for a quick group photo and then a dash to the bus.

it was an excellent trip. i shall return there is a skirt there that was calling my name as well as some very awesome genie pants that are so popular over here.
